A big thank you to the Baird volunteers who, on May 18th, accompanied kids from Qi Ying Kindergarten on a tour of a local farm.
Meant to emphasis the importance of farming, and educate the students on where food comes from, participants learned about different plants and how the food was grown. They were also invited to a farm to pick up carrots. Attracted by the nature, kids were very excited and engaged in experiencing new stuff. Even a small cabbage worm would be a huge discovery for them.
After a tour of the farm participants got a chance to make rice cakes, and enjoy some of the fruits of their labor!
Thanks for Baird volunteers to spend this happy day with the kids. It will surely be an impressive lesson for them.
