Volunteers’ role: Activity facilitator
Activity background: Established in 2003, CereCare Wellness Center, the first HandsOn Shanghai community partner, is a fully registered non-profit charity. It is a residential treatment center that receives children with cerebral palsy from 1 to 7 years old. The Center provides a warm, loving environment combined with innovative therapies so that children afflicted by cerebral palsy can reach their potential for physical independence, intellectual achievement, and emotional security. HandsOn Shanghai recruits volunteers to assist teachers in operating treatment. By keeping them company and playing games, volunteers are able to bring warmth and love to children with cerebral palsy.
Activities:
- Play games with children that suffer from cerebral palsy, help to relieve the children's suffering and improve their social interaction ability
- Help children with dinner
Location: CereCare Wellness Center lies in Changqiao 8th Village, (Longlin Road with Luoxiu Road),Xuhui District.
Note: Volunteers should wear appropriate clothes with friendly colours (e.g. no high heels and suits). We encourage volunteers that have experience in organizing activities to sign up and hope that volunteers will be outgoing and take part in the activities actively.
CereCare's children are in poor health. To avoid possible cross infection, volunteers who have a cold or fall ill should not sign up for this activity.
