Volunteers need to support the school in conducting different interest clubs and deliver lessons out of the school schedule. All curriculums and events are designed to help the school to improve the education quality and bring the migrant students a broad view of the diversity culture and knowledge, which enables growth and development of student interests and building up their confidence through accomplishment.
Yu Cai primary school was founded in 1997 for migrant children in Minghang district in Shanghai. After moving to 3 different locations, the school is now located in Pujiang town in Minghang district.
The school has classes from pre-school to grade 6. There are total 800 students and 30 teachers. There are 3 classes each in pre-school, grade 1 & 2 and 2 classes each in grade 3,4,5 and 6. The current school site was a factory previously.
YUCAI primary school offers normal curriculum. However due to their limited capacity, students have no opportunity to learn things outside textbooks. Most migrant communities live at the outskirt of Shanghai city and are isolated. The school is very interested in volunteer visit and programs, especially volunteers who can teach oral English, computers, music and sports.
