Visually Impaired

There are 17,31 million people with vision impairment or blindness in China, which means that 1 in 80 people is visually impaired. And 23.5% of them are young people under 30. The number is huge but we hardly see the visually impaired in our daily life. Due to various reasons such as inconvenience, 30% of the visually impaired in China almost don’t get out of home.

In order to let the visually impaired go out and have the same opportunities to run and to walk as healthy people and with them, HandsOn Shanghai cooperates with Running in the Dark. By recruiting volunteers to walk and to run outdoors with the visually impaired, we try to remove prejudices toward them, and to eliminate the barriers between people.
