China is the country with the largest number of hearing-impaired people in the world, reaching 27.8 million. Among them, there are approximately 137,000 hearing-impaired children aged 0-6, and 20,000-30,000 new hearing-impaired children are born every year.
The childhood is crucial for the development of hearing and speech. The hearing impairment impedes the development of linguistic ability and affects the development of the child’s emotions, psychology and social intercourse. With early detection, and effective intervention and rehabilitation training, the abilities of most children with deafness and hearing loss will be remarkably improved and be able to go to school with healthy children.
From 2017, HandsOn Shanghai started cooperating with Shanghai Qiying Kindergarten, where kids are all with various degrees of hearing impairment. Qiying kindergarten strives to develop hearing and speech rehabilitation of little kids and to promote the blend of hearing-impaired children and healthy children.
