In the Fall of 2010, HandsOn Shanghai was invited by Shanghai’s Minhang District Government to establish Shanghai’s first center devoted entirely to volunteer training and service learning – HandsOn Shanghai’s Minhang Volunteer Center. To celebrate the grand opening of Minhang Volunteer Center on May 28th, and in the name of engaging communities through volunteerism, HandsOn Shanghai is organizing Shanghai’s First Annual Shanghai Make a Difference Day

On this day, HandsOn Shanghai will seize the moment to inspire, equip, and mobilize individual, student and corporate partners through over 75 high impact service projects with our community partners. It is a day that we hope to engage over 1500 volunteers into community service projects that will have a positive impact on thousands of Minhang residents.

We will be helping to complete hundreds of tasks including:

• Delivering coloring books to Shanghai's children's hospitals
• Taking 250 Sunshine home teens on a field trip
• Elderly Flower Box Delivery
• Kindergarten Painting
• Planting a community garden
• Removing trash and installing safety tape in 150 elderly homes
• Community volunteering awareness program

It is a day that will serve as a first step for us in our partnership within the Minhang district, and we urge you to take up the call and spend the day with us volunteering in one of our programs on May 28, 2011.
